Your trust matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, send us an inquiry or make a donation, and how we use and protect it.
1. Who we are
Shez Hope Corp (“Shez Hope,” “we,” “us” or “our”) is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our mailing address is 123 Hope Street, Suite 100, City, State 00000, United States. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Inquiries. When you use our inquiry form we collect your name, email address, and, if you choose to provide them, your phone number, organization and the contents of your message.
- Donations. When you donate we receive your name, email address, billing address, donation amount, frequency and the date of your gift. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Requests for support. If you contact us for help, you may choose to share details about your circumstances. Please share only what you are comfortable with. We treat this information with extra care.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the date and time of your visit, which our hosting provider records in server logs for security and reliability.
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described in our Cookie Policy.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your inquiries and requests for support;
- process donations, send receipts and keep records required for tax and accounting purposes;
- manage volunteer, partnership and sponsorship relationships;
- send updates about our work if you ask to receive them (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- keep our website secure, prevent fraud and spam, and fix problems;
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on these legal bases: your consent (for example, when you submit the inquiry form or accept optional cookies); the performance of a transaction you request (such as processing a donation); our legitimate interests in running and protecting our organization, where those interests are not overridden by your rights; and compliance with legal obligations.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only with trusted service providers that help us operate, including:
- Email delivery. We use Resend to deliver messages sent through our inquiry form and to send confirmations and donation receipts.
- Payment processing. Donations are processed by the payment platform shown on our donation page (such as Stripe, PayPal, Zeffy, Givebutter or Donorbox). Each platform handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- Website hosting. Our hosting provider stores and serves this website and its server logs.
These providers may only use your information to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of any person, or in connection with a merger or transfer of our activities to another nonprofit.
6. How long we keep information
We keep inquiry messages for up to 24 months after our last contact with you unless an ongoing relationship requires longer. Donation records are kept for at least seven years to meet tax and audit requirements. Server logs are generally deleted within 30 days. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
To make a request, email privacy@shezhope.org. We will respond within the time required by law, usually within 30 days, and may need to verify your identity first. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. California residents may exercise rights under the CCPA in the same way; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
8. How we protect information
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), limit access to people who need it, and choose providers with strong security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to protect your information.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
10. Children's privacy
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them online. Our youth programs collect information only with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
